Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bites

I’ve been in a chocolate mood for the past month…well, more accurately my whole life, but its been especially bad this past month.  I’m a total chocoholic, but being a ballet dancer and having a sweet tooth is not really the best combination.  I love when I find things to make that still satisfy my chocolate cravings but are still good for you.

Peanut Butter and Bananas are actually a perfect combination, not just in taste but in nutrition as well.  The potassium from the banana and the protein from the peanut butter is a great recovery snack, for your muscles after a workout. Then top it off with some chocolate, and you have a delectable snack!

I was seriously trying to limit my sweets this past week, not restrict, because thats never a good idea, but simply be mindful about the amount of sugar I was intaking.  I felt I got a good compromise with these little bites. Its the perfect post workout snack, so when I got home from dance, I didn’t  feel guilty about diving into the freezer and grabbing these.


These wonderful things are frozen chocolate covered peanut butter banana bites. Long name but super wonderful.

The Process


Basically, you cut up a banana, top it with a small amount of peanut butter, and sandwich with another banana.  Then, melt chocolate and cover the banana bites. To melt the chocolate, I used 7 Ghiardelli 72% dark chocolate squares. I broke them into small pieces and microwaved in 15 second intervals and stirred in between.

Place in the freezer for a couple of hours, I left mine in while I went to dance, so I left around 9:30 and got back around 3.  So about 5-6 hours, you probably dont need that long, but just made sure the chocolate is hard to the touch.  When you take them out, you will want to break off the surrounding chocolate that didnt make it on to the banana. Just simply pull the banana bite off and break away the pieces of chocolate.  You will be left with quite a bit of frozen chocolate and you can do whatever you want with it.  I ate mine, but feel free to throw it out lol.  After this, your left with some delicious frozen goodness!

  3. I love making banana bites for a little treat after dinner. I usually just make little bites of banana dipped in chocolate with a sprinkle of macadamia nuts and rock salt on top, but I’m digging your PB version, Jess. De-lish!
